 THE HOTTEST STAR OUR UNIVERSE


What is the hottest thing in the universe? Is it a planet, a star or a black hole. What if I told you that we humans have created something even hotter. 



35 degree Celsius and its already very hot for me the highest temperature have ever witnessed on the surface of Earth. It was 57 degrees celsius. But these temperature are nothing. The earth is a pretty comfortable planet to live on,but what if you suddenly appeared on the moon. If you were the sunny side of the Moon the temperature is would rise up to 140 degrees celsius. Since oneday on the moon last about 38 days. After 15 days the night would come and the temperature would drop to -170 degrees celsius . Is huge difference in temperature is because moon has almost no atmosphere. So there is no way for heat from the sunny side do you transferred through the cold side. 

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER PLANET OUR SOLAR SYSTEM?

I have always assume that mercury is the hottest planet in the solar system, because its closest to the sun. But Venus is actually hotter its surface temperature of about 465 degree Celsius. So why is Venus hotter if it is further away? Well it's because it has thick atmosphere full of greenhouse gases. If a planet has no atmosphere part of the sunlight is absorbed by the surface and the rest is reflected. If the planet has atmosphere the reflected light can be observed by gases making the planet even hotter. But there are much hotter planets in the space. 



The hottest planet we have ever observed is a planet called kild9B. It is 650 light years far away from our Earth. It is gas giant just like Jupiter. Its surface temperature reached almost 5000 degree Celsius. The planets about 10 times closer than Mercury to its star. But this spine I will probably not not leave for too long. The star is ripping it apart the planet loses about 10 million kg of mass every second. Even the planet kiln9B is pretty hot as you would probably guess stars are much hotter than that. 

OUR SUN IS HOTTEST OBJECT IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM


For example the surface of sun is heated up to almost 6000 degree Celsius. Stars are basically just hydrogen and helium which is being compressed by gravitational force of the star itself. This compression creates pressure which is heated up by gas and it's great test in the middle of the star. The temperature inside the core of the sun is about 15 million degrees celsius. High temperature just means that the individual particles are moving at very high speed in fact two hydrogen atoms can move at such a high speed that they overcome the repulsive electromagnetic force fusing  Into the helium. 

This process of nuclear fusion creates energy which heats up the core of star. But it turns out we have managed to create a temperature on the earth. Surprisingly some atomic bombs can reach few hundred millions degree Celsius. 

To find hotter place we have to go back to stars, because some star is much hotter than sun. The sun will continue fusing hydrogen then helium into carbon for another 5 billion years. But then the nuclear fusion will stop because the temperature is is not high enough to fuse even heavier elements.
